An all time classic and extremely rare preferred Pim Niyom amulet of this Master, with Takrut insert in the base, and outstanding features, that make the amulet extremely easy to authenticate ('Doo Ngaay' = 'easy to see'). This world Famous, and highly preferred Pra Somdej Sum Rakang Pim Yai Ongk Kroo Run Raek first edition Masterclass amulet of Luang Phu Nak, of Wat Rakang Kositaram, was released in 2495 BE. Created using a host of magical ingredients, with old broken amulets and sacred powders from the repository of Somdej Pra Puttajarn (Dto) Prohmrangsri, of Wat Rakang Kositaram.
The Pra Somdej Sum Rakang, is one of the very rarest of all amulets of Luang Phu Nak, and this particular exhibit, is in beautiful Condition, with immense character to its appearance and surface textures, and an aura of power emits from the image of the Buddha within the bell. This exhibit possesses 'Nuea Graeng' (time-hardened and condensed Muan Sarn clay), which is considered by amulet aficionados an aspect of great importance in the Dtamra Pra Somdej of the lineage of Abbots and Guru Masters of Wat Rakang Temple.
Luang Phu Nak's first edition of amulets was made in 2495 BE along with the Pra Somdej Song Taewada Ok Dtan, the Pra Somdej Sam Liam (triangle shape), and the Pra Somdej Dto Nang Borigam models. Luang Phu Nak was a memorable Gaeji Ajarn, and Abbot of Wat Rakang, who was highly revered in his own right, and is one of the Masters who still possessed the traditional techniques and methods, for the creation of Somdej Amulets as did LP Dto Promrangsri.
Somdej Dto was the original creator of the Somdej Wat Rakang Amulet. The Pra Somdej amulets made by LP Nak contained a massive quantity of crushed up Pra Somdej amulets made by Somdej Dto Prohmrangsri of Wat Rakang, which LP Nak had collected over the years from Looksit who brought their broken amulets to return to the Temple, as well as a sackful he found in the roof of the Prayer Room ('Bote' in Thai). This generation of Somdej amulet is now almost impossible to find easily, and can be considered an extremely desirable and collectible amulet. The sheer beauty of the surface texture of this amulet is breathtaking indeed. LP Nak inherited the Somdej Dtamnan from LP Dto.
The 2495 BE Series amulets, used powder from some original Pra Somdej amulets given by Somdej Dto Promrangsri himself. LP Nak's amulets are of great popularity, because they are a great alternative to the original and rextremely expensive Pra Somdej of the Great Somdej Pra Puttajarn Dto Prohmmrangsri, and are considered to be equally powerful and sacred amulets of the Wicha Lineage Continuance of Wat Rakang.
Below; a Takrut spell is inserted into the base of the Muan Sarn Sacred Powders of the amulet.
The chances of owning an amulet like this, are becoming less and less in recent years, and that soon it will be practically impossible to obtain authentic old Wat Rakang amulets. There are ever more collectors, and thus, ever less amulets on the market, and this particular model is extremely rare to see anywhere these days.
Below; The rear face of the amulet shows the classic features and characteristices of the Muan Sarn Sacred Powders of a true Pra Somdej Wat Rakang antique amulet
The amulets were made using the following ingredients;
1. Powder from the chalk sticks used in the making of Pong Saksit (sacred powder for amulet making)
2. Rice fragments kept by LP Dto
3. Pong Putta Kun
4. Pong Bpatamang
5. Pong Tri Ni Singhe
6. Pong Maha Rach
7. Pong Itti Jae Powder
The chalks used in the making of the Bpatamang, Trinisinghe Maharach and Itijae powders, were mixed with sacred water squeezed from the leaves of seven kinds of magical plant, including Bai Tamlueng , Yord Sawad, Yod Ga Hlong, Yod Raksorn,Chaiyapruek, Rachapreuk, and Dork Mali (jasmine). All of the ingredients of the Wat Rakang amulets were then mixed with;
The LP Nak Somdej amulets are considered to be extremely sacred and powerful and are extremely popular in Thai amulet collector circles.
They are thus the second choice of those wishing to possess the magic of Pra Somdej Wat Rakang of Somdej Pra Puttajarn (Dto) Prohmrangsri, but who can neither afford, nor find such unreachable amulets, which are only seen hanging around the necks of Millionaires.
Luang Phu Nak believed that the Pra Somdej amulets made by Somdej Dto had inimitable magical qualities and special power within the Muan Sarn (sacred powder used to make the amulets), and because of the meditative power of Somdej Dto who blessed them.
This exhibit has a very marbled stone like relief and is highly condensed with defined relief, which is referred to in the special vocabulary of the amulet community as 'Nuea Graeng Doo Ngaay' meaning 'stone hard and easily recognisable'.
Therefore apart from being made by one of Thailands great Gaeji Ajarn, and being an authentic ancient Wat Rakang Amulet, it is also Sacred for the fact that it contaiins original Somdej Dto Wat Rakang Amulets in the Sacred Powder mixture too. It is said by many, that Luang Phu Nak made the Pra Somdej Thaan Singh in emulation of Somdej Pra Puttajarn (Dto) Prohmrangsri's legendary Pra Somdej made for Wat Lakorn Tam Temple
You can see an example of the original Pra Somdej Wat Lakorn Tam amulet from Wat Lakorn Tam to the left, which is said to have been one of various pim made by the great Somdej Pra Puttajarn (Dto) Prohmrangsri of Wat Rakang Kositaram. Indeed, it seems that there are some major similarities, and that the design is partially inspired from the Wat Lakorn Tam Amulet. This also makes complete sense, with Luang Phu Nak being a subsequent Gaeji Ajarn of Wat Rakang Kositaram, and a Looksit of Somdej Pra Puttajarn (Dto) Prohmrangsri.
The front face of the Pra Somdej Thaan Singh features a Buddha image sat meditating on top of a very high and tapered escalating Dais, with three tiers, and decorative legs on each tier of the dais, which are known as 'Thaan Singh' meaning 'Lion Dais'.
In our opinion, the main difference between this amulet and an original Somdej Dto as far as Sacredness, is the price, and the face that the Somdej Dto amulets are perhaps more of something to brag about, which is not really the intended reason for owning an amulet. Sacred Thai Amulets are intended primarily as Puttanussadti (remembrance and respect to the Buddha), especially Pra Somdej.
The chances of owning an amulet like this are becoming less and less in recent years, and soon it will be practically impossible to obtain authentic old Wat Rakang amulets. There are ever more collectors and ever less amulets on the market, and there is no higher esteemed amulet than the Pra Somdej Wat Rakang Kositaram family.
