This Southern Style Thai Kris Knife (Keris) is made by an Artisan of the Academy of Traditional Arts and Ancient Weaponry of Songkhla, and is made using an ancient blade made in the Dae Bae style of the Pattani Lineage Artisans. Many traditional Thai Keris will have animal or human figures or deity figures carved as the hilt of the knife, but some do not, and possess a simple hilt with no imagery, which does not clash with the Islamic Law, and allows such types of Keris to be worn by both those who are Buddhists and those who are Muslims.

This Dae Bae Kris is a shorter type of straight blade Keris, without the zig-zag wavering blade form. The Dae Bae is a shorter Kris Knife used for portability, and is worn to show status of influence, and was often used by the 'Nak Leng' Gangster Bosses, and the hardest nuts to crack. In the days before guns, the Keris was an extremely eminent and symbolic status symbol as well of of course being a true weapon of defense.
