The Ruesi Dtat Dton Edition by Ajarn Plien of Wat Don Siala, (of the Temple of Pra Ajarn Nam Khao who was the master of Luang Phu Tuad Wicha lineage) are released in a series of 12 or more postures ‘Asana’, each purposefully exuding an ambience particular to that ancient Yogic posture or ascetic action and exercise.

“Ruesi” in Thai, from the Sanskrit Rishi, is an ascetic yogi or hermit. “Dat” means to stretch, adjust or train. “Dton” is a classifier used for a Ruesi and also means oneself. So “Ruesi Dat Dton” means the hermits or yogis self-stretching or self-adjusting exercises.

This amulet comes aleady encased in transparent waterproof casing.

Dried and ground tiger fur, which is a material very particular to the historical Ruesi’s ascetic power, are affixed to the image, invoking a kind of ‘Prai Seua’ or ‘Seua Saming Prai’ tiger spirit, that each master Ruesi is known for through the fierce concentration of Ruesi Citta.

The Ruesi performed posture exercises ‘bhandha’ or self massage techniques and acupressure, poses, neuromuscular locks, breathing patterns, ratios, and visualizations in conjunction with Ayurvedic medicine, mantras and meditation to cure various ailments and discomforts of both mind and body.

There are also additional Ruesi Dat Dton techniques practiced by Ruesis today, which are not found in any text, nor depicted in any sculpture or paintings. These are also traditional techniques, which have been passed down from teacher to student over the centuries. In total, there are close to 200 different exercises and poses, including variations, in the entire Ruesi Dat Dton system.

The ‘Ruesi Pak Mai Tao’, is one of the postures of the Ruesi Dat Dton released by Ajarn Plien showing the Ruesis ascetic practice of planting ones walking staff into the ground marking the place of meditation, and using it to lean upon and avoid wobbling whilst leaving the body in astral travel. The mini Lersi Bucha image is made up of smelted ‘Lek Lai’, ‘Nuea Wan 108’ sacred herbal powders and ‘Piw Suea’ tiger skins to form various parts of the Ruesi's body.

Sacred hand inscribed yant are written on the back of the Ruesi as well as on the bottom base to invoke various aspects and blessings of the Ruesi, all magical materials within as well as the yant being innate blessings in and of themselves.

Please note, because these are not just machined or mass produced amulets, rather, each amulet is dressed by hand, and individually fashioned. For this reason, each amulet is unique and differs slightly from others. The amulet you receive can therefore differ slightly from the image.

With the Ruesi pervading many of the occupations, arts and traditions of Thai culture, it is interesting to note that the particular posture of ‘Ruesi Bod Ya’ Ruesi grinding medicine has been adopted as a technique of ‘Muay Boran’, an ancient Thai martial art, as one of the most powerful techniques, (if not the most powerful) in which the elbow is delivered to the crown of the head in a crushingly powerful fashion.

“The foundation and key to Traditional Thai massage is Ruesi Dat Dton. Ancient Ruesi, through their own experimentation and experience, developed their understanding of the various bodies (physical, energetic and psychic, etc.) They discovered the postures, channels, points, the winds and wind gates within themselves. Later it was realized that these techniques could be adapted and applied to others for their healing benefit, which is how Thai massage was developed.

So, in order to really understand Thai massage, as a practitioner, one should have a foundation in Ruesi Dat Dton and be able to experience it within oneself and then apply it to others. Ajarn Plien is a Laymaster of the Khao Or southern Sorcery Lineage, who heads the Wat Don Sala temple laymasters of the Dtamnak Dtak Sila Khao Or Lineage, as the oldest living laymaster of the Luang Por Kong and Pra Ajarn Nam Linneage, which is the direct magical transmission lineage for Luang Phu Tuad of Wat Chang Hai.
