This magic wand is hand carved from Mai Payung Khaw holy wood. It is obtained from a sacred tree in which a deva dwells. The tree spirit gave its permission to be cut down so that the holy wood could be given to Luang Por Prohm for making hand carved amulets to hand out to his faithful devotees. The meritorious dana offering provided by the deva thus made it possible to supply the temple of Wat Ban Suan with the sacred materials needed for Luang Por Prohm to produce these magic wands.
The holy Mai Payung Khaw wood was then hand carved into the shape of the magic wands, followed by a series of empowerment rituals. Next, Luang Por Prohm prepared a sacred couldron with holy prayer water in order to bless the wands with various invocations. As a result of the intensive empowerments given by Luang Por Prohm, this magic wand is a most powerful tool to be used for ritual practice.
Hence, due to its superb qualities as a ritual instrument, the mai kroo should ideally be used for making holy water, performing excorcist rituals, banishing of evil, spell casting, as well as for healing practices. In case one uses the magic wand to make holy prayer water with, this helps to increase the power as well as to enhance the magic aspects of any sacred object immersed in the holy water. Likewise, the magically charged water made with the use of the magic wand can be sprayed onto the goods and wares one sells, so as to increase one's sales.
How to Make Holy Water ('Nam Montr')
To further enhance the magic powers, the wand is filled with various sacred ingredients, and then sealed off with a metal tip. Last but not least, the Mai Payung Khaw wood received hand inscriptions featuring sacred spells in Khmer Sanskrit, performed by Luang Por Prohm (see photo below). And so, he blessed the magic wands one by one, using the authentic wicha of the Khao Or tradition, including the Khee Bpen Khee Dtaay sorcery of the Khao Or lineage to subdue evil forces, and to transmit auspicious blessings with the wand.
As a famous Khao Or master, Luang Por Prohm is the holder of the authentic wicha of the Dtamnak Dtak Sila Khao Or Southern Academy of Sorcery. This leads to an immense popularity of his ritual instruments among ritual practitioners. A Buddhist wand, however, is often also used by healers and Reiki practitioners, who find it a very useful and effective tool for removing inauspicious energies, restoring the balance of the flow within the chakras, as well as transmitting subtle prana energies for various healing practices.
